About Me
My name is Kristy Herbel. I have been working in the school system with children, parents and staff since 1996, as well as in private practice as a Registered Occupational Thereapist. I am also a rhythmic movement training consultant (RMTi)/interventionist, and have training in Masgutova Neurological Reflex Integration. I have seen amazing results utilizing a combination of these approaches to address difficulties experienced in every day life for all age clients. I have recently added certification in Safe and Sound Protocol Certification.
With 30 years experience working with brains and bodies of children birth through 21, I have gained unique insight and skills in human performance related to the influence of motor skills on wholistic health in Adults and Children. If you are tired of traditional medical care, and would like to explore movement and wholistic interventions for difficulties, please reach out to me. I look forward to meeting you, and learning more about you, your child, and your goals for your family.
Because this is not a medical service (dictated by insurance reimbursement) I do not take insurance. Sessions are charged by the hour, and include work with you and your child.
This is not traditional Pediatric Occupational Therapy, but Movement Interventions to promote Health and Wellness in your family and your life.
If you are concerned about the development of your baby, child, or adolescent and want to promote a healthy lifestyle in your family, this may be what you have been looking for. The neuroscience research has proven that these interventions can mitigate the difficulties in everyday life of your neuro-diverse loved one (or yourself!) Life is too short to struggle through difficult times alone, please reach out!

Parent Coaching
This is a good place to start if you feel overwhelmed or struggle to know exactly what to focus on to meet the needs of your neurodiverse loved one.
Primary Motor Pattern/Reflex Integration work
Wellness plan / in person sessions
This can be used to help those with anxiety, PTSD, trauma, unschooling, obsessive compulsive disorder, emotional regulation difficulties, and sensory processing differences. A full reflex assessment and treatment program is provided. If you or your child has underdeveloped or non-typical responses to sensory motor input, these areas may be impacting higher-level brain functioning. An assessment can help reveal areas of need and guide the physical interventions that will help move the nervous system toward more typical patterns of responses.
Available for local clients (near Amarillo, Texas) only at this time. I can provide on-site support in your home, daycare, or preschool to help your child. Time will be billed with an hourly rate, including commute time to the setting.

FAQ here:
What do I do first to get things started? Just scroll down to the contact form, and send me a message with a little bit of information about what you are looking for!
Do I have to commit to weekly sessions? No! I will work with your family's rhythm and schedule. Options are: Monthly, Every other month, or Intensives during the summer.
What do I do during the session? I will work directly with you and your child, and train you to carryover needed exercises and skill work at home, to help mature your child's nervous system, so they can experience more success!
What do I have to do at home? I will work with families to design a home program that meets the needs of their child. It is very important that you commit to completing the recommended exercises at home at least 5 times a week. Exercises can usually be completed in about 15 minutes, and are designed to be engaging and fun for all. Neurological and nervous system changes can ONLY happen with committment.
What if I don't have time to do a home program? It is best to be honest, and hold off, until you are ready to commit to generalizing the techniques to the environment that is most comfortable for your child. They will make incredible progress- TRUST ME! Choose a 6-8 week period of time that you can focus on your child's development, and we can work together to make changes. Families typically do best if they take a break after this to focus on other areas of growth, and maintain what they have learned in every day life.
